Feeling a little meh after a recent breakup? I tried a new meatball recipe for Christmas dinner. And making it was as good for my soul as it was for your taste buds. I made it with my son but it can be done solo too! Here’s why I think they’re great:
Why Meatballs?
1. The Mixing and Matching: Making meatballs required me to think through the combinations of ground meat, herbs, cheese, I wanted to use. Pretty simple yet empowering. As I mixed, I thought about all the different ways I can rebuild my life. It’s like a recipe, with endless possibilities.
2. The Rolling and Shaping: Forming the meatballs, paying attention to the sizing required my focus. I think feeling them in my hands had me engulfed in this experience. Rolling each meatball felt like shaping my future. It's a small act, but it represents taking control of my own narrative.
3. The Sizzling and Simmering: Cooking the meatballs gave me this heightened sense of anticipation, made me look forward to the flavor. As the meatballs simmered, I reflected on the lessons I've learned from my past relationship. It's like a slow-cooked stew of emotions, with each bubble representing a moment of growth.
4. Serving and Tasting: The best part. Witnessing the Watching the faces. Priceless for me. Embracing successful and achievement is hard sometimes when recovering from divorce. This helped me learn to embrace success. Sharing the meal with my son was a reminder of the love and joy that still exists in my life. It's a small victory, but it's a victory nonetheless.
The Benefits of Doing Things Slow:
- They Reduced Stress: The slow, methodical process can help calm your mind and reduce anxiety.
- They Give The Gift of Quality Time: Use this time to unplug and reflect, meditate, or simply enjoy the moment.
- They Can Actually Be Delicious: The end result could be a fabulous meal that's worth the wait.
So, if you’ve come across a great slow activity, I would love to hear about it! Message me to share them! And this New Year's Eve, treat yourself and let the magic-making continue!
